Final DPS design/layout

This is a photo of my DPS design/layout so far, I have already thought about graphics, pull quotes and margin space. When laying out the drawings, I intended for some of them to go over the margins slightly. The drawing of Will (rainbow dash onesie (left)) (yeah I said Rainbow Dash! Will's a Brony for life!) has gone over the margins slightly, so it would still be in print but to give the layout a more cartoony (is that even a word?) feel, I also intended for The drawing of Matt (monkey onesie (right)) to go over the margin space with the tail and possibly his elbow. But I drew him too far to the left.

Mini DPS Scamps

Here are 14 varied scamp drafts things for laying out a Double Page Spread (or DPS for short) Uhh.. Yeah... I guess that's it.... Bye.....

Another Vector Drawing... This time its Will Barlow! Or Bill Warlow depending

This is a work in progress as I still need to add details to the clothes. I have purposely chosen a more complicated picture, to test my skills and because I really enjoy making Vector Drawings. Below is the original photo of Will, it is a small image so it is small on the blog to prevent it from going pixelated. Sorry about that!

FINISHED IMAGE!

Finished Vector Drawing - Justin Bartha

This is the finished vector drawing of Justin Bartha, below will eventually be the picture from one of the National Treasure films (I'm not sure which one). I made this vector drawing in Illustrator using the pen tool. It took a long time because if the different use of colours and tone. :)

I finally added the original picture of Justin, turns out its from the second film, National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets. Its a good film. I rate it 9.5 dancing chickens out of 10. Uhhh... DONT QUESTION MY RATING!

Mock Exam - First Magazine Cover ----> InterVision - T.V Dying Out

This is the final look of the first magazine cover I made during my Graphics Mock Exam. I didn't use the same cover lines and expanders that I had previously planned, as they wouldn't fit on the page correctly. But I have used the same ideas for them, I just re-worded them slightly. I have also used the photograph that I planned to use as it goes with the theme of my magazine.

Inking With The Stencils

These are photos of the ink layers I made using the templates. I used a ink blowing tool to create this effect without having to use spray paint. I will now scan these images onto Photoshop and create a magazine cover with layered colours to make a picture.

A Very Creepy Parody Of The Mona Lisa! (Warning! Contains alot of rambling and going off subject!)

When creating the parody, I removed all the showing skin from the original painting, and replaced it with the equivalent from the image of 'The Bro' (That's what I normally call the creature, I think it's actually called something like Mr Face). Originally I tried to remove the background of the painting and replace it with one of the rooms in the game, but I decided against it. But here is the image I would have used as the background. Just imagine The Bro running down that corridor straight towards you...

Make a parody of a famous painting they said... It will be fine they said... This is what I came up with... The Mona Lisa and the creepy monster from the popular horror video game, Amnesia: The Dark Decent. I don't even know where to begin with this thing... All I know is that I play too many video games...

Cover Lines and Expanders (Mock Covers)

Here is a photograph of the Cover Lines and Expanders page in my sketchbook. It shows the 5 different cover lines and expanders that I made up for use on my front covers I will be creating during the mock exam.

''Frozen' top of UK charts... - Disney's new film is ruling the UK Box Office Charts'
This cover line and expander is about the new animated winter film from Disney, Frozen. It uses a Pun for a cover line (Frozen could mean cold or the film name). The information that Frozen is top of the UK Box Office Charts is correct as 6th December 2013.

'The Doctor's how old? - Celebrating 50 years of the traveling Time Lord'
This cover line and expander is about the recent TV special for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary on the BBC. It uses an Interrogative (questioning) cover line and alliteration or the letter 't' in the expander (the traveling time)

'More Mini Movies - We take a look into the works of YouTubers, HatFilms'
This cover line and expander is about the popular, British YouTube channel, HatFilms and their current series on the channel, also including the new partnership with The Yogscast. It uses alliteration of the letter 'm' in the cover line (More Mini Movies). This cover line would be used as a 'YouTube Spotlight' on the covers.

'T.Vis dying out! - We see how younger generations are choosing the internet over T.V'
This cover line and expander is about how more teenagers and younger children would rather go onto video sharing websites like YouTube, instead of watching series on T.V. This cover line is an imperative, this means that it it stating a fact and that it is important. This cover line would be used as a main story.

'Largest Internet Army - YouTubes biggest star with over 20 million members of the Bro Army'
First a quick note, after I wrote the expander, I decided it was too long and the facts were wrong. PewDiePie is now at over 20 million subscribers on YouTube (Woah). NOW ON WITH THE DESCRIPTION! This cover line and expander is about the worlds most subscribed to channel on YouTube, PewDiePie. This cover line is superlative because it is stating a fact, and boasting about it.

Justin Bartha - Cut out Cutouts xD (If that makes any sence)

These are the cutout stencils that I have cut out, so I can do the spray painted effect for a development idea. I carefully cut out the darker areas of the images, leaving a stencil for Justin's face. In total I did 3 different stencils, the two above and another that is just a outline. (I cant spell the actual word)

Justin Bartha Cutout

This is the original photograph of Justin Bartha I found and then decided to use for the Cutout.
This is the same photograph of Justin Bartha after I had removed the background and added the Cutout effect.

'Wag!' Magazine - CRAP

Contrast

Left page - Contrast between large and small images on the page and on the camera screen.
Triangle - Contrast between sizes of text, large, medium and very small. Makes titles stand out against body text.
2 Point line - Contrast of colours, black text on a white background. Makes the body text clear and easy to read.

Repetition

Left page - Repetition of the colours yellow and black throughout the magazine. Because yellow and black are the main colours of the Dogs Trust charity.
Triangle - Repetition of the typeface throughout the magazine, it is varied by the use of italics and bold.

Alignment

Camera - As shown, there is a vertical line showing the alignment between the bottom left corner of the camera and the girls right eye.
Text - There is a left alignment on all the text on the double-page spread. This makes it look more professional.

Proximity

Spread Title - The spread title and sub-heading, are both in a close proximity as they are the main parts of the spread, that are used to draw people in to read the article.
Body Text - The body text is all within a close proximity of itself, to show that the information is all linked.

John's Awful Buisness Card

This shows the business card that I re-made to make it look more professional. This is what it looks like on InDesign. I have used a right alignment and two different type faces to show contrast between the different pieces of information on the card. The name of the business, the name of the person and the address.

I have also used a contrast in the colours of the text on the address and the name. The name, John Panelreader is in black and the address is in a grey colour. This shows that the name of the person is more important than the address of the business.

Second Magazine Copy (Work in Progress)

This shows my version of the 'Fashion' magazine before I added the background photograph I took myself. While adding the text to the cover, I used the purple background you can see in the screen shot above. Doing this allowed me to see where the different text would be laid out over the cover photograph.

The screenshot above shows how I divided up the the different pieces of text onto the different layers. For example, I have put the main title and headline on the same layer, and the other pieces of text on separate layers for the different colours they were in. (All the white text is on a different layer to the pink and black). When I add the background photograph, that will be on a separate layer under all the text, it will replace the current purple background.

Second Magazine Cover - 'FASHION' September 2011

This is the second magazine cover that I have decided to re-create on Adobe InDesign. I have chosen it as it is completely different type of magazine to the NME one. Clicking HERE opens a new window to the webpage that I got the image from.

My Finished NME

This shows the different layers that I used to separate out the different parts of the cover. For example, the main title (NME) and the main headline (Bombay Bicycle Club) are on one layer together (Main Text) and the red and yellow boxes are separated out onto two different layers, with the text. (Boxes and B0xx3s)

NME Magazine Cover Boxes And Titles

This shows on my version of the NME Magazine cover where I have started to create the red boxes that make up most of the cover. I have also re-created the magazine name and main text on the cover. Below shows how i created the boxes so they are the same shape as the originals on the cover. I used the Direct Selection Tool to move the corners of the square so they match up with the corners on the original cover.

Finished Photoshop Manual (with loads of layers)

This is my finished 'Camera Shooting Modes' Manual. Here I added all the relevant text to the different pages before i saved it as a '.jpeg' file. Below shows all the layers that I added for each thing on the manual, and how I organised them.

Adding Colour To My Manual :)

This is a screenshot of my Camera Manual, here I have completed half of the pages and was adding colour to the images.

Here I have added in the titles and icons I scanned through earlier. I then started to fill them in with the relevant colours.
